Latara Darrett in Knife Fight in Cameron Park

Uhh . . . when I first heard that two female athletes had been arrested for an incident in Cameron Park, naturally my mind went to images of a romantic picnic while the music of the Indigo Girls played softly on a boom box. That couldn't be further from the truth. Thanks to the intrepid police beat reporting of Baylor alum and journalistic hearthrob Emily Ingram, we now have a clearer picture of the alleged misdemeanor assault that went down between Lady Bears hoops sophomore Latara Darrett, sophomore volleyball player Ashlee Cooper, and another Cooper who was wielding a knife during the incident, according to the WacoTrib article. I'll let Em take it from here:
Sophomore Latara Shanica Darrett, 19, a basketball guard, and sophomore Ashlee Genae Cooper, 19, a volleyball right-side hitter, surrendered to police and were arrested on Class A misdemeanor charges of assault causing bodily injury, Waco police spokesman Steve Anderson said. Darrett, of Chino, Calif., confronted Chayla Cooper on Aug. 7 near the Herring Avenue bridge in Cameron Park about an incident that happened earlier in the week, according to an arrest warrant affidavit. During the argument, Ashlee Cooper, of LaPlace, La., punched Chayla Cooper in the face, the affidavit said. Chayla Cooper allegedly pulled out a knife to defend herself but then put it on the ground. Darrett then jumped on Chayla Cooper, knocking the two girls to the ground as they fought, the affidavit said. It is unclear whether the two Coopers are related. Ashlee Cooper and another woman kicked and punched Chayla Cooper in the face as she and Darrett fought on the ground, the affidavit said. The other woman has not been charged in the assault.

The Accused

What's with all these scandals lately? First GuyMo's house for sale, then the cheerleading nepotism allegations, now a knife fight in Cameron Park - maybe we're finally starting to act like a big-time college program! Also, we lose two O-Lineman, so GuyMo coaxes a dude out of retirement? Just when things couldn't get worse. Also, apparently GuyMo is making "Owl Tags" after his "FrogTags" motivational tool failed miserably.
