Around the Quad

A few news items for your post-Super Bowl hangover blog reading.

1. Former WacoU Standout Aundre Branch Now a Harlem Globetrotter. Thanks to contributor "Objective Aggie" for pointing out that an alum of The B is now starring on the Harlem Globetrotters, which is, as you know, a much greater honor than playing in the NBA, since you get to bring smiles to the children around the world. As an NBA player you get to father children around the world. Not many know that Gov. Pat was a stellar point guard for the Washington Generals in his day.

2. New Oso Amigos. Let's welcome aboard the new members of the BearMeat Alliance. First off, we have Chalmersfan's Blog, a Kansas blog dedicated to all things Jayhawk. Then there is Corn Nation, which is a Huskerific blog trying to cope in a post-Osborne world. We can relate to a state that has a politician who should be a coach and coaches who should be in politics. Lasty, the Oklahoma blog My Opinion On Sports brings said opinion to bear on all things which fall broadly under the category of "sports," though with special emphasis on OU-related news.

3. Terrible Weekend for Gentlemen and Lady Bears. As if watching Mosby shoot horrendously from the field as the LadyBears fell to Nebraska wasn't bad enough, the BearMeat Editorial Board was stunned when news of the Gentlemen Bears loss to mighty Iowa State came across the wire. Iowa State? Them? Really? Come on, guys, we've got to step up. Tweety, Bruce and Dugat combine for one (1) FG? Really? Don't make our blog start covering only the Baylor Equestrian team. We will.
